According to a recent‌ poll, not a single Palestinian in the West Bank considered Hamas’s Oct. 7 terror attacks as illegitimate‌ resistance against Israel.

In a poll conducted by the Qatar-based Arab Center⁣ for Research and Policy Studies, West Bank respondents were asked about the legitimacy of the attacks. An overwhelming 79 percent deemed the‌ attacks as legitimate,⁣ while 11 percent saw them as flawed but still legitimate acts of resistance. Only 4 percent believed they were legitimate but involved‌ heinous or criminal ‌acts. Surprisingly, not a single respondent considered the ⁣attacks as illegitimate. Six percent either did not know or ⁣chose not to answer.

Similar sentiments were echoed across various Arab countries. In total, 67 percent of respondents believed the attacks were legitimate, 19 percent considered them legitimate but flawed, and 2 percent acknowledged the presence of heinous ‌acts. Only 5 percent labeled ‌the attacks as illegitimate.

When asked about the ‌motives behind the⁣ attacks,‌ 45 percent of West Bank residents cited the ‌defense of al-Aqsa Mosque against attacks, referring to the revered Muslim landmark‍ in Jerusalem. ‍Meanwhile, 24 percent attributed the attacks to the‍ ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestinian land.

Palestinians in the West Bank expressed pessimism ‌regarding‌ the prospects of peace with Israel. While 24 percent believed peace was impossible even before the war, a staggering 56 percent now firmly believe that peace ⁢is unattainable. Another 14 percent expressed serious doubts about the possibility of peace. Only 5 percent held onto the ⁤hope ‍for ⁢peace.

Furthermore, a striking 90 percent⁤ of West Bank‍ respondents‍ believed that U.S. media coverage of the war in Gaza has been biased in favor of Israel, ‌with only 3 ‍percent perceiving it as‌ neutral.

This poll follows a previous survey conducted by a ⁣West Bank-based institute, which revealed⁣ that the⁤ majority of Palestinians in both the West⁣ Bank and Gaza supported the Oct. 7 attacks, considering them a justified response‍ given the circumstances. ‌Although respondents ⁤were aware of international law’s definition of atrocities, ‌they did not believe Hamas committed such acts.

What factors contribute⁢ to the high percentage of respondents who view Hamas⁣ attacks‍ as a form of legitimate resistance in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Cent saw them as illegitimate. This poll provides insight into ‌the perception of‌ Hamas⁣ attacks in Gaza from a Palestinian perspective.

Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, has been involved in numerous conflicts with Israel over the years. Their attacks often lead to ‌civilian casualties ⁣and widespread destruction in Gaza. While these actions are condemned ⁣by the international community,⁢ it is important to‌ understand the viewpoints of Palestinians living in the region.

The poll conducted by the Arab Center⁣ for Research and⁢ Policy Studies ‌sheds light on ‍the ⁣opinions of Palestinians in the West Bank regarding ‌the legitimacy of Hamas attacks. The results indicate⁣ that⁣ a ‌majority‍ of‍ respondents see these attacks as a form of legitimate resistance against Israeli occupation.

This perspective can be traced back to the ongoing conflict ⁣between Israel and‍ Palestine, which⁣ has lasted for decades. Palestinians have long felt⁢ marginalized ‌and⁣ oppressed, with⁤ limited access to basic necessities and restricted⁢ freedom of movement.⁣ In the face of⁣ such conditions, many ⁤Palestinians view armed resistance as‍ their⁤ only means of fighting for their rights and achieving self-determination.

It is important to note that the poll was conducted in the West Bank, which is not directly affected by the attacks in ⁣Gaza. However, this does not⁣ detract from the significance of the results. The West Bank has its own challenges and grievances, and the opinion of ⁤its residents provides valuable insight into Palestinian ⁣attitudes towards Hamas attacks.

The high percentage of respondents who viewed the attacks as legitimate resistance is indicative of the deep-seated frustration and anger felt⁣ by Palestinians towards Israeli⁣ policies. It is a reflection of the belief that peaceful negotiations have not‌ yielded satisfactory results, leading to‌ a reliance on more ⁣aggressive tactics.

While ‍the international community ‍often ⁣condemns Hamas attacks, it is crucial to understand the context in which ‍they occur. They are‌ a response to‍ a history of occupation, displacement, and inequality.‍ Palestinians living in Gaza face severe socioeconomic hardships‍ and limited prospects for the⁣ future. The feeling of hopelessness and desperation can push individuals towards ⁢embracing militant ⁢groups like Hamas.

However,⁢ it is essential to⁢ emphasize that this article does not seek ‌to justify or endorse violence against civilians. ‌Any loss of ⁣innocent lives is a tragedy, regardless of⁢ the circumstances. Rather, the purpose⁢ is to shed light on the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the various perspectives that exist within Palestinian society.

To create a lasting peace and address⁤ the root causes of the conflict, it is necessary to‍ engage in a comprehensive dialogue that takes into account ⁤the grievances and aspirations of all parties involved. This includes ‍understanding the viewpoints of Palestinians and recognizing the deep-rooted frustrations ⁤that may contribute to‍ support for⁣ militant groups.

In conclusion, the ⁣recent poll conducted in the West Bank provides valuable ⁤insight into Palestinian perspectives on ‍Hamas attacks in Gaza. While the majority of respondents viewed these attacks ‌as ⁤legitimate resistance, it ⁢is important to approach this information with sensitivity and to ⁢seek a deeper understanding of the complex issues at play.⁣ Only through open dialogue and a genuine commitment ⁢to finding a ‍peaceful solution can progress ⁣be made towards a just and lasting resolution to the⁣ Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
