ATLANTA—In a terrifying incident, eleven people on a Delta Air Lines flight were rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after the plane encountered severe turbulence while en route to Atlanta, according to officials.
Flight 175, which had departed from Milan, Italy, was approximately 40 miles (64 kilometers) northeast of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when the crew reported the turbulent conditions, as confirmed by the Federal Aviation Administration. The agency has announced that it will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
The Airbus A350, despite the turbulence, managed to land safely at the airport just before 7 p.m., bringing relief to all on board.
Delta has stated that eleven passengers and crew members were transported to the hospital, although specific details regarding their injuries or conditions have not been disclosed.
The flight was carrying a total of 151 passengers, along with ten flight attendants and four pilots, as reported by Delta.
