Multiple Injuries Reported in Baltimore Bus Collision
According to authorities, a collision involving a Maryland Transit Administration bus and two passenger vehicles left at least 16 people injured on Saturday. The incident took place in Baltimore’s North Paca at West Mulberry Street around 10:20 a.m. local time.
The vehicles involved in the crash were identified as a Lexus and a Nissan. Witnesses claim that the Lexus ran a red light, leading to the collision. The MTA bus continued to roll and eventually came to a rest inside an apartment building located at 500 W Franklin St.
Fortunately, none of the injured individuals suffered life-threatening injuries. Baltimore Police advised drivers to avoid the area immediately after the accident. The damaged building was evaluated by the Baltimore Fire Department Collapse Unit, and residents were allowed to reenter in the afternoon.
Last year, Maryland witnessed a staggering number of injury crashes, with 28,084 incidents resulting in over 40,000 people getting injured. The cause of this particular collision is currently under investigation by both the MTA and the BPD.
