Two teen tourists from South America were brutally attacked by a stranger at the Grand Central Terminal restaurant on Christmas morning.
On Monday, 36-year-old Steven Hutcherson allegedly launched a vicious attack on the 14-year-old and 16-year-old while they were enjoying Christmas lunch with their parents at Tartinery in the Grand Central Dining Concourse around 11:25 a.m.
The suspect allegedly started yelling “I want all the white people dead, I want to sit next to the crackers.”
The 14-year-old was stabbed in the thigh after the suspect allegedly lunged at them, and then stabbed the 16-year-old’s back, nicking her lungs.
Shortly before he allegedly went on his rant and attacked, Hutcherson, who has a history of mental health problems and numerous prior arrests, got into a fight with restaurant employees who were attempting to remove him from the establishment.
Hutcherson was charged with a misdemeanor for endangering the welfare of a child, assault, attempted murder, and criminal possession of a weapon, according to law enforcement.
The girls, who were reportedly staying at a nearby Midtown hotel, were rushed by FDNY EMS to Bellevue Hospital for medical attention.
Later that day, a hotel employee confirmed that the teenagers “are OK” after being released from the hospital.
According to sources, Hutcherson’s criminal record shows 17 previous arrests. In previous encounters with the law, he was also classified as an “emotionally disturbed person.”
His most recent arrest was on November 7th for allegedly threatening to “shoot” a stranger in the Bronx, which happened before Monday’s incident.
“I’m going to shoot you,” he allegedly stated, according to the criminal complaint filed against him, “I don’t care what kind of green card the government gave you.” “Speak up and open your mouth. I’m going to shoot you now.
Then, according to the complaint, he pulled what the victim believed to be a gun “from the side of his pants.”
However, law enforcement sources stated that he did not have a firearm and only had a knife on him.
Hutcherson was charged with assault, menacing, harassment, and unlawful weapon possession.
On December 12th, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and received a conditional discharge.
“DAs are reducing all the charges. Judges are letting him go. Now we have two teenagers who were stabbed,” said a law enforcement source.
He is currently awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.

Title: Teen Tourists Brutally Attacked at Grand Central Terminal Restaurant
Introduction:
In a shocking incident, two teenage tourists from South America were viciously attacked by a stranger at the Grand Central Terminal restaurant on Christmas morning. The assailant, identified as 36-year-old Steven Hutcherson, launched a brutal assault on the 14-year-old and 16-year-old victims while they were enjoying their Christmas lunch at Tartinery in the Grand Central Dining Concourse. This terrifying incident has raised concerns about the safety of visitors and the handling of individuals with a history of mental health problems and prior arrests.
The Attack:
The assailant, Steven Hutcherson, allegedly launched his attack at around 11:25 a.m. on Christmas morning. Eye-witnesses reported that he began yelling, “I want all the white people dead, I want to sit next to the crackers.” The 14-year-old victim was stabbed in the thigh, while the 16-year-old suffered a knife wound to her back, which nicked her lungs.
Prior Incidents:
It has come to light that Hutcherson has a history of mental health problems and numerous prior arrests. Just weeks before this heinous attack, he was arrested on November 7th for allegedly threatening to “shoot” a stranger in the Bronx. However, at the time of the recent attack, Hutcherson did not possess a firearm, but rather had a knife on him.
Legal Consequences:
Hutcherson has been charged with multiple offenses, including endangering the welfare of a child, assault, attempted murder, and criminal possession of a weapon. Law enforcement authorities have revealed that Hutcherson’s criminal record reflects 17 previous arrests, and he has been classified as an ”emotionally disturbed person” in previous encounters with the law.
Inadequate Handling of Prior Arrests:
It is disheartening to note that despite Hutcherson’s criminal history, he had been released on conditional discharge after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of third-degree assault following his November arrest. This incident raises serious questions about the handling of individuals with a history of violent tendencies, mental health issues, and numerous prior arrests.
The Victims’ Recovery:
Fortunately, the two teenage victims, who were staying at a nearby Midtown hotel, were promptly rushed by FDNY EMS to Bellevue Hospital for medical attention. A hotel employee confirmed later in the day that the teenagers “are OK” after being released from the hospital. The emotional and physical trauma they experienced is undoubtedly distressing, and appropriate support should be made available to aid in their recovery.
Conclusion:
The brutal attack on two teenage tourists at the Grand Central Terminal restaurant highlights the pressing need to address the safety concerns faced by visitors and reinforce measures for the proper handling of individuals with a history of violent behavior and mental health problems. Law enforcement authorities and judicial systems must work in cohesion to ensure the safety of the public and prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
