On Monday, police identified the 18-year-old suspects as Jamaal Tucker and Ahnile Buggs.

Officers said⁣ Tucker turned ⁢himself into authorities last⁤ week after they served several search warrants.

Buggs was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner‍ of Investigations, Frank Vanore, said they recovered a weapon from Buggs residence that was used during the shooting.

“Our firearms identification ⁣unit was⁢ brought ‍in, they took a⁢ look at that gun and were preliminarily able to tell us that that gun ⁢matched multiple ⁣casings at the scene,” Vanore said.

Both of the suspects face several⁣ charges ⁢including attempted murder and aggravated assault.

The shooting took place last week, after three⁣ masked⁢ suspects ‍got out of their vehicle and fired over 30 rounds at students while they were waiting to ‍take the bus after school.

Eight teens between the ages of 15 and‍ 17-years-old were shot. A 16-year-old boy who was shot nine times remains in critical condition.

Based on the video surveillance⁤ officers released of the vehicle, they’re still ‍searching for two more suspects.

“We’re not done,” Vanore⁤ said. “We ⁢have other people we need to contact, we know who they are and we’re gonna continually move with our ⁤investigation towards not only those individuals but this group. ⁤Anyone who may have aided and assisted them, we’re coming ⁢for them‌ too.”

The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, but authorities believe it ‌may be gang-related. According to Deputy Commissioner Vanore, the shooting ⁣appears to be a result of an⁤ ongoing dispute between rival groups.

Philadelphia Mayor, Jim ⁢Kenney, expressed his outrage over the incident and called for the‌ community to ‍come together to prevent further⁣ violence.

“We cannot allow this senseless violence to continue in our city,”⁢ Mayor Kenney said in a press‌ conference. “We need to⁣ stand united against this kind of behavior and work towards a safer Philadelphia for all.”

As⁤ the investigation continues,‍ authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspects or the shooting ‌to come forward. They have released additional surveillance footage of the suspects and are offering a⁤ reward for any information that ⁤leads⁤ to their arrest.

The SEPTA shooting highlights the ‍ongoing issue of gun violence in Philadelphia, particularly⁤ among young ‌people. In recent years, the city has seen an increase in shootings ‍and homicides, prompting calls ⁤for ⁤stricter gun control measures.

Community leaders and advocates are working together to address the root causes ⁣of violence and provide support and resources for at-risk ⁣youth. Programs such as mentoring, after-school activities, and job training are being implemented to steer young people away from gangs and violence.

However, solving the problem of gun violence requires more than just addressing the symptoms. It requires a comprehensive approach that includes addressing poverty, inequality, and systemic issues that contribute to the cycle of violence.

Ultimately, it is up to the community, law enforcement, and government officials to work collaboratively‌ to create safer neighborhoods and opportunities for all residents, especially the young ones. Only through a collective effort can we hope to‍ reduce gun violence and create a ⁣brighter future for Philadelphia.
