Biden Faces Consequences of 2019 Attack on Trump: Supports Own Impeachment
President Joe Biden faced criticism as an old tweet resurfaced, seemingly endorsing his own potential impeachment over actions mirroring those he condemned in Trump. Biden’s past statement, amidst Trump’s Ukraine call controversy, now fuels scrutiny on his recent decisions regarding aid to Israel, raising concerns of political favors. Critics point out the irony, highlighting the implications of Biden’s past words on present actions.
Critics mocked President Joe Biden over a resurfaced tweet from 2019, saying that what he had meant to be an attack on then-President Donald Trump turned out to be a prescient endorsement of his own impeachment.
Biden’s tweet, sent amid the furor over Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, claimed that Democrats were right to impeach him for suggesting he’d withhold promised aid money and munitions if certain conditions were not met.
“President Trump withheld Congressionally appropriated aid to Ukraine unless they granted him a political favor,” Biden tweeted on October 18, 2019. “It’s the definition of quid pro quo. This is no joke — Trump continues to put his own personal, political interests ahead of the national interest. He must be impeached.”

But as a number of critics had pointed out, what Biden said on CNN on Wednesday — that he would withhold ammunition that had already been promised and approved by Congress if Israel mounted a ground offensive in Rafah — amounted to the same thing.

Red State’s Bonchie was quick to reply, saying that Biden’s 2019 tweet amounted to an endorsement of his own impeachment.
