2024 GOP hopefuls unite at Iowa lawmaker’s ‘BBQ bash’ amid tightening caucus polls.
Rep. Ashley Hinson Hosts “BBQ Bash” to Showcase Republican Candidates for 2024
Get ready for an exciting event this Sunday as Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) brings together several Republican candidates for president in 2024 at a lively “BBQ bash” in Iowa. This informal gathering will give Iowans the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates and witness their interactions on a grassroots level. Unlike other events, the candidates won’t be confined to a podium, allowing them to connect with the attendees in a more personal way.
Experience the Authenticity and Inspiration
According to Hinson, this event will provide a unique flavor that allows voters to truly gauge the qualities and inspiration of each candidate. In an interview with the Washington Examiner, she emphasized the importance of this grassroots experience, stating, “And that’s what people are looking for—that quality and that inspiration.”
With over 700 people expected to attend, this BBQ bash promises to be a vibrant gathering of political enthusiasts. The lineup of speakers includes notable figures such as Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-IA), Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), Larry Elder, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, and Perry Johnson.
A Platform for Candidates to Shine
While Hinson remains neutral and has extended invitations to all Republican 2024 candidates, some prominent figures like former President Donald Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) will not be attending. However, Hinson highlighted the impact of Sen. Scott’s presence at last year’s event, where he engaged with the crowd on a personal level. This year, it’s an opportunity for the candidates to step up, showcase their leadership, and connect with Iowans and Americans in an authentic way.
Iowa’s Open-Mindedness and the Changing Landscape
Hinson emphasized that Iowans have always been open-minded when it comes to considering candidates. While some voters may have already made their choices, the state values hearing from everyone and takes its first-in-the-nation status seriously. Despite Trump’s lead in Iowa and nationally, a recent New York Times-Siena College poll revealed that other candidates are gaining ground in the state.
A Chance to Differentiate and Connect
During the event, each candidate will have approximately eight to ten minutes onstage to pitch themselves to the attendees. This platform will allow them to differentiate themselves and showcase their unique qualities in a way that may not be apparent when seen individually. It’s a one-stop shop for voters to familiarize themselves with the candidates and have some fun along the way. The event will even feature a band, with Rep. Hinson herself planning to play her violin.
Don’t miss out on this exciting event! The BBQ bash will kick off at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Hawkeye Downs Speedway & Expo Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
