Authorities Searching for Suspects After Deadly​ Shooting at Philadelphia Basketball Court

Authorities in ‍Pennsylvania are on ⁤the hunt for ‌five suspects ​following a tragic​ shooting‌ at a basketball⁢ court⁣ in North Philadelphia. The incident, which ⁤occurred over the weekend, left ⁤three people dead and one critically‌ injured.

The shooting took place around 6 p.m. on August​ 11th when a group of five males opened fire ‍on a gathering of ⁢people outside the 8th ⁣and Diamond Playground. According to⁢ police,⁤ nearby homes were also hit by the gunfire,‍ but fortunately, no children‌ were playing on ⁤the ⁢court at ‌the time.

“The kids ⁤were on the other side of the fence playing in the street,” said Philadelphia Police Deputy Commissioner James Kelly. “But some of those rounds hit houses across the street. ‌So ​it’s⁤ a tragic situation, but ‍no ‍young⁢ children got‍ hit.”

The victims ‍who lost their lives ​in the shooting have been identified as Nyreese Moore, 22, and Naasir Folk, 24. ⁢Both men suffered fatal gunshot wounds⁢ to the ⁢head. Isiah Williams,⁤ a 21-year-old man from Lawncrest, was also shot multiple times and tragically passed away from⁢ his injuries the ​following day.

The fourth victim, ‍a male in his⁢ early‍ 20s, was shot twice in the abdomen and is currently in ​critical condition ‌at the hospital.

Authorities recovered over 50 spent shell casings from‍ three⁢ different-caliber firearms at the scene, leading investigators⁢ to believe‌ that the attack was targeted.

Mayor Kenney Condemns ‌Violence and Offers Reward

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney expressed his horror at the‌ quadruple shooting‌ in ​a ​post on ⁢X, ‌formerly known as Twitter.‍ He offered his prayers for the victims and their families and announced ⁣a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest⁣ and ⁢conviction of those responsible for shootings near‍ schools, ⁤recreation ​centers, or libraries.

Mayor Kenney also highlighted the installation of ⁣over 100 ⁣new security cameras around city recreation centers to deter crime and violence. He urged⁢ anyone with information to call 215-686-8477 to‍ share an⁤ anonymous tip.

In a statement to WPVI-TV, the⁢ mayor‍ emphasized the city’s‍ commitment ⁢to working with the police ‍department and parks⁢ and⁢ recreation to enhance ​security and prevent crime in and around recreation⁤ centers.

As the investigation ⁢continues, the community mourns the loss of ​three lives and hopes for ‍the recovery of the ​critically‍ injured victim.
