A total of eight people were shot, four fatally, in a mass shooting incident in Chicago. Among the four people who were pronounced dead at the scene, four suffered critical injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
In a press conference Tuesday, Superintendent David Brown of the Chicago Police Department said what started as an argument erupted in gun shots early Tuesday morning in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.
“Chicago Police officers responded to a shooting call where we discovered a total of eight victims were shot,” Brown explained. “Of those eight victims shot, four are deceased. Three of the deceased are female and one is male.”
According to police, a party was likely held at a home the night before the incident, where neighbors said the home was known as a social spot. Brown announced they do not have any suspects at the moment, but said the victims that were taken to hospitals had not yet been interviewed by detectives as the investigation is still in its early stages.
“We don’t have any suspects currently,” continued the superintendent. “We have a drum magazine, which is a large capacity magazine for a gun, not a gun, several casings inside the house…no apparent forced entry inside the house.”
“The shooting happened in Englewood, which has long been one of the most violent communities in Chicago. It comes as the city is experiencing more homicides this year compared with the same period last year.” https://t.co/8E8y46JyjH
