At least four people were arrested during demonstrations against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Members of activist group VOCAL-NY gathered in Manhattan on Wednesday, where they were seen holding signs and heard chanting for the Democrat to resign amid multiple scandals.

The protesters were initially peaceful, though at one point they blocked traffic. This led New York Police Department officers to intervene and call for the group to stay on the sidewalk. After several attempts, however, police took people into custody.

Protesters accused the governor of favoring the wealthy while citing a struggling working class and growing homeless population.

“And every year, year after year, Governor Cuomo uses abject power, totalitarian leadership, anti-democratic practices to pass budgets in the name of billionaires and millionaires,” stated Jawanza James Williams, director of VOCAL-NY.

The events that took place Wednesday marked the latest demonstration by the group who said they are trying to take their state back as Cuomo has failed New Yorkers.
