FBI Discovers 40 Skulls and Human Bones in Kentucky Man’s Residence Linked to Harvard Medical School

The FBI made a shocking discovery during a raid on a Kentucky man’s residence. They found 40 skulls and other human bones, including spinal cords, femurs, and hip bones. The raid was conducted in connection to an alleged trafficking scheme involving human remains linked to Harvard Medical School.

James Nott, the resident of Mount Washington, Kentucky, is accused of using a fake name, “William Burke,” to sell human remains on Facebook. Investigators found that Nott had been obtaining these bones from around the world and using them as decorations throughout his residence.

After the raid, Nott was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The Department of Justice stated that the raid was conducted to search for firearms and trafficked human remains.

The criminal complaint against Nott revealed that he had been posting human remains for sale on Facebook as recently as June 23. This raid comes after federal prosecutors uncovered a similar criminal plot involving stolen human remains from Harvard Medical School’s morgue.

A total of eight people have been charged in this case, spanning several states. Nott was accused of coordinating sales of remains with Jeremy Pauley of Pennsylvania.

“Some crimes defy understanding,”

said United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam. “The theft and trafficking of human remains strikes at the very essence of what makes us human. It is particularly egregious that so many of the victims here volunteered to allow their remains to be used to educate medical professionals and advance the interests of science and healing. For them and their families to be taken advantage of in the name of profit is appalling. With these charges, we are seeking to secure some measure of justice for all these victims.”
