45 Republicans who ousted McCarthy have penned a letter supporting him, despite feeling ashamed.

45 ‘Ashamed’ Republicans Pen Letter Backing McCarthy After Ousting -⁤ Here Are Their Names

Forty-five Republican House members⁣ signed a joint letter on Thursday, expressing their outrage over the removal of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and calling for significant changes to the chamber’s rules to prevent such a situation from happening‌ again.

The Republicans currently hold a slim majority ⁢in the House, with 221 members compared to the Democrats’ 212.

Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, along with seven other Republicans, joined all the House Democrats in voting⁢ to remove McCarthy as ‍speaker. The final vote count was 216-210.

Gaetz‍ and his fellow Republicans were upset with McCarthy for pushing a continuing resolution ⁢through to fund the federal ⁣government with majority Democratic ⁣support.

“Ashamed and embarrassed by what happened on the Floor this week, we ⁣refuse⁢ to allow the eight members who abandoned and undermined our Conference to ⁣dictate every outcome in policy and personnel ‍for the remainder of this Congress, including ⁣the upcoming selection of the Speaker of the House,” the ‌letter⁢ stated.

“We cannot⁣ allow our ⁤majority to be dictated to by the alliance between the chaos caucus and the minority party that will do nothing more than guarantee ⁢the‌ failure of our next Speaker,” they ⁣added.

The letter was signed by 45 lawmakers, ⁣including Reps. Dan Crenshaw of Texas, Maria Elvira ⁢Salazar of Florida, and Jason Smith of Missouri. The full list of signatories can be found here.

Despite the fury expressed⁢ by ‍these House Republicans, it seems that Gaetz and those ⁢who voted to oust McCarthy would be satisfied with either⁤ House Majority Leader Steve Scalise or House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan as the next speaker.

Scalise and Jordan are currently the only two declared candidates for the position.

In an interview, Gaetz stated, “If it’s Speaker ‍Jim Jordan or ‌Speaker Steve Scalise, there ⁤will be very few conservatives in the country⁤ who don’t see that as a monumental upgrade over Speaker McCarthy.”

Scalise has expressed openness to changing the rule that allowed one member to bring a ⁣motion to vacate the chair, but ⁣emphasized the need for ‌unity within the GOP caucus to achieve this⁢ change.

Considering the circumstances, it may be wise for the ⁣GOP caucus to require a significant faction within the party to support a motion to vacate the chair, ensuring that the next speaker has a strong mandate but also remains accountable.

With⁤ the possibility of a new speaker who inspires more confidence among conservatives, it is likely that a compromise can be reached that satisfies the various ⁤factions within the GOP.

What if you woke up one morning and‌ half of the people you count on had just vanished overnight?

That happened to me recently. I got ⁢up, came to work here at The Western Journal,‍ and when I got to my office, ⁢literally half of our readers had vanished. They were just gone. We had been nuked by Facebook, and it ⁢had⁢ happened almost instantly.

But it was‌ even worse. Facebook hit⁣ us at⁣ the ‍same time 90 percent of advertisers⁣ had essentially boycotted ‌us. “Brutal” is a‌ word I’ve used a lot lately.

The fight for the truth is brutal. The fight for America’s ‌soul is brutal. What the government is doing⁣ to Jan. 6 detainees ‍is brutal. What‍ surgeons are doing to confused children is brutal.

It’s‌ a fight we must win. But‌ we⁣ can’t win ⁢without you.

A subscription to The Western⁤ Journal will go much farther than you think. It costs less than ‌a cup ⁤of Starbucks coffee, and‌ for that⁢ small price you get access to ALL of our ⁢content news, commentary, and‍ premium articles you’ll experience a radically reduced number of ads, and most importantly you will be vitally supporting the fight against leftism.

Can I count on you to subscribe ⁢today? We need your help. Benjamin Franklin summed up the situation‍ we’re all facing when he said, “We must all hang together, or, most assuredly, ‍we shall all hang separately.”

We plan to‍ hang in ‌and fight. Please help us. Please subscribe today.
