5 House Republicans Reveal Their Feelings On Ousting GOP Conference Chair Liz Cheney
House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (WY) reignited calls for her resignation from GOP leadership after posting a tweet about the January 6 riots at the Capitol.
“The 2020 presidential election was not stolen. Anyone who claims it was is spreading THE BIG LIE, turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system,” she tweeted.
Since then, a handful of Republicans have revealed where they stand on Cheney’s position in GOP leadership.

House Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA)
Even though House Leader Kevin McCarthy hasn’t come out and publicly said he supports a change in leadership, a hot mic moment said it all.
As The Daily Wire reported:
“I think she’s got real problems,” McCarthy told Fox News host Steve Doocy right before appearing on “Fox and Friends,” according to Axios. “I’ve had it with … I’ve had it with her. You know, I’ve lost confidence. … Well, someone just has to bring a motion, but I assume that will probably take place.”
“The comments, made amid seeming cross-talk with Doocy, outlined how the House conference chair could be removed by a vote from the chamber’s Republican members,” Axios further reported.
Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (NY)
One of the rising stars in the Republican Party, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, is reportedly making calls to conference colleagues asking them to support her bid to replace Cheney.
Although Stefanik and her staff failed to respond to Fox’s request for comment, sources told the outlet “She’s been whipping votes in the event Liz is ousted.”
Congressman Lance Gooden (TX)
According to Fox News’ Chad Pergram, Gooden took issue with Cheney following her vote to impeach Trump.
“Liz Cheney was put on notice when our conference held a vote to remove her in February…” Gooden said. “She is totally unaligned with the majority of our party. We cannot fight for the America First agenda with her in a leadership position.”
Shortly after that discussion, Gooden tweeted his support for Stefanik.
I believe @EliseStefanik is the RIGHT choice to replace Liz Cheney.
Elise stood with President Trump EVERY step of the way, especially during the phony impeachments.
Elise also worked incredibly hard to expand our party and take back MANY house seats.

Congressman Jim Jordan (OH)
Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, who previously voted to remove Cheney, reaffirmed his thoughts on her position in leadership.
“It’s tough to be the spokesperson for your party, for your conference, when you disagree with where 90% of your party in the conference is,” Jordan told Martha MacCallum on Tuesday. “I do think there’s going to be a change.”
Jordan pointed out that he backed ousting Cheney when the conference had a vote in February.
“Since that time I’ve said we should be focusing on the crazy things that the Democrats are doing, their left-wing agenda and their spending and so forth but, unfortunately, our conference chair wants to continue talking about things, I think, that aren’t in the best interest of the party, the best interest of the conference, so I do think there’s going to be another vote and I think the outcome will be different,” he said.

Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL)
Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger retweeted a Cheney spokesperson’s statement about the GOP conference chair’s take on the January 6th attacks on the Capitol.
“This is about whether the Republican Party is going to perpetuate lies about the 2020 election and attempt to whitewash what happened on Jan 6,” a reporter tweeted. “Liz will not do that. That is the issue.”
Kinzinger agreed with Cheney’s spox.
“100 percent. This IS THE ISSUE,” he tweeted, clearly backing Cheney.
Kinzinger is another Republican in the House who voted alongside Cheney to impeach Trump.

As The Daily Wire previously reported, when the GOP conference attempted to oust Cheney in February, the vote failed overwhelmingly, 145 to 61.
