Tragic Accident Claims Life of 80-Year-Old Man in Lancaster
Lancaster, Calif.—In a devastating incident, an 80-year-old man lost his life when his compact SUV collided with a big rig in Lancaster.
The crash occurred on the evening of August 27th at the intersection of Avenue D (SR-138) and 85th Street West, according to California Highway Patrol Officer S. Lough.
The victim, identified as Joseph Bongiorno, Jr., tragically passed away at the scene, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. Unfortunately, his city of residence remains unknown. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported.
A news videographer present at the scene described the incident, stating that the elderly man was driving a silver Honda CRV eastbound on Avenue D. In an attempt to overtake a car ahead of him, he tragically collided with the semi-truck, causing it to veer off the road and into a nearby field.
