87-Year-Old Woman Defeats Intruder, Offers Meal
An 87-Year-Old Woman’s Brave Encounter with a Teenage Attacker
An 87-year-old Maine woman showed incredible courage when she fought off a teenage attacker in her own home. But what she did next is truly remarkable.
Marjorie Perkins woke up at 2 a.m. on July 26 to find a young man standing over her bed. He had stripped down to his underwear and threatened to harm her.
Instead of succumbing to fear, Perkins decided to fight back. She quickly put on her shoes and grabbed a chair to defend herself. The two struggled as Perkins tried to protect herself in her Brunswick home.
“I thought to myself, if he’s going to cut, then I’m going to kick,” she said.
During the scuffle, the intruder hit Perkins on the cheek and forehead before changing his approach. He told her that he was “awfully hungry.”
Showing incredible compassion, Perkins decided to help him. She gave him a box of peanut butter and honey crackers, two protein drinks, and two tangerines.
While the intruder ate, Perkins dialed 911 on her rotary phone and spoke to a dispatcher. The intruder eventually collected his belongings and left, leaving behind a knife, shirt, shoes, and a bottle of alcohol.
Since the incident, Perkins has gained international attention for her bravery. Despite the attack, she still feels safe in her home of 42 years. However, she worries about the increasing crime rates in her area.

Perkins believes that crime has indeed worsened in recent years, and she feels that the law has become ineffective in deterring criminals.
“People aren’t afraid of anything anymore. They feel they can do as they please,” she said.
Fortunately, the police were able to quickly apprehend the teenager responsible for the attack. He has been charged with burglary, criminal threatening, assault, and underage drinking.
