‘You Bet…It’s Guaranteed To Happen’: Leftist Waukesha DA In 2007 On Chance Released Criminals Would Kill Others
John Chisholm, the progressive Waukesha District Attorney whose office released a man on a $1,000 bond on November 11 after he was accused of driving over a woman — only to see him allegedly drive his SUV into a Christmas parade on Sunday, killing at least five and injuring scores of others — said of non-violent offenders in 2007, “Is there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into treatment program, who’s going to go out and kill somebody? You bet. Guaranteed. It’s guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach.”
Chisholm made those assertions in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel in 2007 the year he was elected. “Chisholm’s premonition came true in 2013 when convicted drug dealer Jeremiah Schroeder, 35, was let out on a deferred prosecution and injected a fatal dose of heroin into Cassandra Lutz, a 26-year-old woman,” The Daily Mail noted.
Bob Lutz, the grandfather of Cassandra Lutz, who spent roughly 15 years as a Milwaukee police officer, said, “I’m pissed. I think Cassie had her problems. But she did not deserve this. Simple as that. If (Schroeder) would have been in jail the way he should have been, this would not have happened. She’d still be here.”
On Monday, Chisholm’s office released a statement in which they admitted of Brooks that “the State’s bail recommendation in this case was inappropriately low in light of the nature of the recent charges and the pending charges against [the suspect]. The bail recommendation in this case is not consistent with the approach of the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office toward matters of violent crime, nor was it consistent with the risk assessment of the defendant prior to setting of bail.”
After San Francisco hard-leftist District Attorney Chesa Boudin celebrated his own election to the post in November 2019, Chisholm tweeted his congratulations, writing, “Congratulations to San Francisco District Attorney-elect @chesaboudin on a hard-fought and well-deserved win for prosecutorial reform. I look forward to working with DA Boudin and reformers across the US to forge a justice system defined by fairness, equity, and proportionality.”

Congressman Scott Fitzgerald, who represents Waukesha, told Newsmax: “When you see kind of the rap sheet [and] the turnstile approach to justice, where these guys are in and out, in and out, in and out, it just goes back to a system that is broken. … Even though you know I’d love to deal with this at the federal level, it’s still a state-by-state issue because there’s such a diverse set of statutes, when you look at Wisconsin versus Illinois or Minnesota, and it reflects kind of the values there.”
Texas Senator Ted Cruz tweeted: “This is shocking. Across the country, radical Leftists are releasing violent criminals from jail—with little or no bail—only to see them commit yet more violent crimes. This horrific mass murder is the latest example. And it was fully preventable.”

Dana Loesch, former spokesperson for the NRA, echoed: “These people died because of bail reform! These people died because of a corrupt DA.”’
