Canadian school cancels speaker who survived ISIS sex trade because it might offend Muslims

A young woman who survived being kidnapped and raped by ISIS has heard from a Canadian school board superintendent that her story is harmful and should not be told.

Whom does the story of Nadia Murad hurt? Why, Muslims of course.

Because when young women are taken and raped by extremists, Muslims are the victims. And “Islamophobia” is the big danger.

Murad was slated to talk with students from the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) – the largest school Board in Canada with nearly 600 schools – about her book The Last Girl: My Story Of Captivity in February. The book describes how she was taken from her family and sold into sexual slavery at the age of 14 years, reports The Telegraph. Murad was raped and tortured before escaping and finding her way to a refugee camp in northern Iraq. She then escaped to Germany, where she now lives.

However, district Board Superintendent Helen Fisher said her students would not be listening to the young survivor. Fisher has issued an apology, but still refuses to let her students attend, saying she believes the book would “promote Islamophobia” and offend her Muslim students, who evidently are not offended by kidnapping, child rape, and sexual slavery.

A book club called A Room Of Your Own Book Club that connects teen girls with female authors was hosting the event set to feature Murad.

“This is what the Islamic State means. It is a terrorist organization. It has nothing to do with ordinary Muslims. The Toronto school board should be aware of the difference,” wrote club founder Tanya Lee, as reported by The Telegraph.
