Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) maintains the impeachment of Donald Trump is unconstitutional. She spoke to One America News and said the idea should be a consensus, especially when Chief Justice John Roberts said it would be unconstitutional for him to preside over the trial.
Blackburn said if the Senate impeaches President Trump now that he’s out of office, she believes it will open the door for the impeachment of former civil officers whose actions are disliked by political opponents. Blackburn warned its a slippery slope that could come back to hurt Democrats and their allies.
“You could say, ‘Bill Clinton let’s bring him back and take him for a trial,’” Blackburn noted. “You could say, ‘Hillary Clinton — Secretary of State with the Uranium One deal,’ let’s revisit that. After Joe Biden leaves there could be an impeachment of him. We could call back Jim Comey or Strozk or Page.”
To persist with impeachment now, with just days to go in the current administration, will further divide Americans and exacerbate tensions.

Blackburn declined to say if she’s heard of any Republicans who might change their vote in favor of convicting President Trump when the trial begins, but she maintained her constituents agree with her that it’s unconstitutional.
