Former Vice President Mike Pence has continued to claim he did the right thing on Election Certification Day.

Pence made those remarks in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, which is set to air on Thursday. He said he acted in ordnance with his “oath to the Constitution,” adding that Congress’ only job is to count the votes that have been submitted by each state.

“I know in my heart of hearts that on that day, we did our duty under the Constitution. I don’t know if President Trump and I will ever see eye to eye on that day or that many of our most ardent supporters will agree with my decision that day, but I know I did the right thing,” said Pence.

Although he believed there were irregularities in the 2020 election, Pence was not proactive in rejecting Joe Biden’s win. This lack of support for the 45th president caused a rift between himself and Donald Trump.

Despite their now differences, Pence said he’s still proud of their time together in the White House.

“I will always be proud of what we accomplished for the American people over the last four years,” Pence previously said in a speech.
