Mexican authorities arrested a Washington man for the suspected murder of his girlfriend.

Reports said 26-year-old Sativa Transue was found on Saturday, beaten to death in a Cancun hotel where she had been vacationing with boyfriend Taylor Allen for Thanksgiving. Sativa reportedly texted her friends the night before she died saying the couple got into an altercation that required Sativa to get stitches. She also revealed Allen threatened to jump off the fourth floor balcony.

Those close to the couple reported that Allen had a “ridiculous temper” and an alcohol-induced alter ego that Sativa called “The Beast.”

Meanwhile, the victim’s family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to recover her body from Mexico for burial at home in Washington state.

“We want to get Sativa home at this point. Taylor’s lawyers are having her body held there. We can’t even get her body home to America. So, we want to get her body home,” said Mykayla Bolieu, the victim’s sister.

Sativa’s family said they hope her death might inspire someone to get out of a problematic partnership before it’s too late.

“I think that if anybody out there, all these young girls, they need to get out of any type of domestic problems,” said Sativa’s father. “If this can teach anybody anything, they need to open up and tell somebody. It’s so sad that she couldn’t tell somebody.”

In the meantime, a celebration of life ceremony will be open to the public outside Spokane, Washington on Dec. 11.
