Joe Biden is railing against the Supreme Court for allowing a Texas pro-life law to remain in effect. The law in question bans abortions after six weeks for women.
According to sources on Friday, Biden was concerned SB8 would infringe upon a woman’s right to choose. Abortion providers sided with the Democrat and also filed a lawsuit against Texas on Friday, which the Supreme Court agreed to listen to.
However, Texas officials claimed lawsuits couldn’t be filed until the law was enforced. Meanwhile, Biden has urged Congress to codify abortion as a constitutional right.
Texas law SB8 will significantly impair people’s access to the health care they need—particularly for communities of color and individuals with low incomes.
We are deeply committed to the constitutional right established in Roe v. Wade and will protect and defend that right.

“The president is very concerned by the Supreme Court’s decision allowing SB8 to remain in effect given the consequences the law has for women in Texas and around the country, and for the rule of law,” stated White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. “I would just like to reiterate that the president is deeply committed to the constitutional right, recognizing Roe v. Wade. He has argued and advocated in the past for codifying Roe through passing the Women’s Health Protection Act.”
Meanwhile, the high court has rejected the Department of Justice’s suit against the Texas law as it has made clear it will only hear private lawsuits.
