Pelosi rejects ban on lawmaker stock trading

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) rejected putting a ban on lawmakers from trading stocks despite repeatedly bragging about restoring integrity in Congress. In an email Wednesday, Obama-era ethics chief Walter Shaub called her recent comments “disgusting” and stressed she’s pushing the opposite of government ethics.
Earlier, Pelosi was asked whether sitting members of Congress and their spouses should be banned from trading individual stocks. Pelosi claimed her colleagues should be able to participate in Wall Street.

This came after Pelosi claimed a top Democrat priority is “restoring ethics, integrity and accountability to government.” Shaub suggested she should start with halting Wall Street participation while in Congress.
