Biden Cancels ‘Major’ Foreign-Policy Speech Due to Two Inches of Snow
President Joe Biden canceled a Monday trip to the State Department to deliver his first major foreign-policy address, citing the two inches of snow that fell in Washington, D.C., during the weekend.
The speech will be “rescheduled due to inclement weather,” a White House official told reporters, adding that Biden “looks forward to visiting later this week when the agency’s staff and diplomats can more safely commute to attend.”
The Biden administration had been touting the speech in the media, describing it as the president’s first major policy speech about “restoring America’s place in the world,” according to NBC News. In addition to his remarks, Biden was expected to sign several executive orders aimed at unwinding Trump administration policies.
