U.S. Marshal shot while serving arrest warrant in Baltimore

A U.S. Deputy Marshal in Baltimore is fighting for his life after he was shot in the line of duty.

The incident happened Thursday morning as the marshal tried to serve an arrest warrant for a man wanted for attempted murder and armed robbery. Authorities said the suspect opened fire as the marshal approached his home.

One deputy US Marshal was shot, transported to Shock Trauma with serious injuries and is recovering from surgery at this time. The suspect was shot and has been declared deceased. We are gathering more details and will have further updates later.

“During the arrest warrant service, deputies received gunfire from the fugitive,” Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force Commander Don Snider said. “Deputies returned gunfire. During the exchange, the fugitive was struck as well as a deputy U.S. Marshal.”

The suspect was fatally shot by authorities. In the meantime, officials said the marshal sustained serious injuries and is currently on life support.
