Kim Kardashian Deletes Tweets Promoting Woman Convicted Of Beating 2-Year-Old Daughter To Death

Kim Kardashian this week posted a string of tweets urging Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) to stop the execution of a mother convicted in 2007 of brutally beating her two-year-old daughter to death.

The controversial messages, reported on here by The Daily Wire, have since been deleted by the reality star.

In the posts, Kardashian claimed Melissa Lucio “falsely pleaded guilty” to killing her daughter, whose death, Kardashian claims, was the result of “a tragic accident.”

Court documents show the baby girl, named Mariah, was the victim of gruesome child abuse; she suffered a potentially weeks-old broken arm, bite marks, bruises, and missing patches of hair that had been pulled out.

“I recently just read about the case of Melissa Lucio and wanted to share her story with you. She has been on death row for over 14 years for her daughter’s death that was a tragic accident,” the 41-year-old posted in a now-deleted tweet. “Her 2-year old daughter Mariah fell down a flight of stairs and two days later passed away while taking a nap. After she called for help, she was taken into custody by the police.”

“Melissa is a survivor of abuse and domestic violence herself and after being interrogated for hours and falsely pleaded guilty,” Kardashian continued. “She wanted the interrogation to end, but police made her words out to be a confession.”

The reality TV star plugged a petition from the Innocence Project calling on Governor Abbott to stop the execution.

“It’s stories like Melissa’s that make me speak so loud about the death penalty in general and why it should be banned when innocent people are suffering,” she wrote.

Kardashian has not addressed why she deleted her tweets, but the Skims co-founder did receive notable backlash for the promotion of Lucio online.

On Wednesday evening, Kardashian reframed her shot at protecting the convicted child murderer.

“So heartbreaking to read this letter from Melissa Lucio’s children begging for the state not to kill their mother,” she posted. “There are so many unresolved questions surrounding this case and the evidence that was used to convict her.”

“This is one of the many reasons why I am against the death penalty – and why I pray her children’s wish is granted and their mother’s life is spared,” Kardashian added.

Lucio is scheduled to be executed on April 27.
