Elon Musk Wants to Negotiate the Price for Twitter Down Based on the Number of Fake Accounts
Billionaire Elon Musk blasted Twitter for not being forthcoming about the number of real users, calling the lack of explanation “very suspicious.”
Musk threw another caveat into his bid to purchase Twitter on Saturday, suggesting that the price be adjusted based on the percentage of fake accounts on the social media platform.
Conservative commentator Ian Miles Cheong posed the idea of cutting the Twitter purchase price: “If 25% of the users are bots then the Twitter acquisition deal should cost 25% less.”
“Absolutely,” Musk responded.
When asked if Twitter had revealed “how many real active users” the platform had, Musk criticized the social media platform’s tight-lipped stance.

No, they still refuse to explain how they calculate that 5% of daily users are fake/spam! Very suspicious.

Last week, Musk announced he would place his bid to take over Twitter on hold, tweeting that his cash buyout offer for Twitter was based on the company’s filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission on the number of fake or spam accounts on the platform “being accurate.”
Musk has asked Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal to “show proof” that the spam or fake accounts are, in fact, less than 5%, as previously disclosed.
Musk said he expected the number of fake accounts is “much higher.”

A 25% reduction of Musk’s $44 billion deal to buy Twitter would lower the purchase price to $33 billion and the price per share from $54.20 to $40.65.
