FACT CHECK: Does This Video Show The Tulsa Hospital Shooting?
A video shared on Facebook purportedly shows footage of a shooting inside a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Verdict: False
The footage is from a March 2020 shooting at a hospital in Mexico. It is unrelated to the recent hospital shooting in Tulsa.
Fact Check:
A gunman, Michael Louis, shot and killed four people at a Tulsa medical clinic June 1 after allegedly blaming his surgeon, Dr. Peterson Phillips, for pain following a back procedure the prior month, according to CNN. The suspect left behind a letter that police said presented “a clear motive,” the outlet reported.
The Facebook video shows people hiding and moving down the corridor of a building as gunshots can be heard in the distance. The person holding the camera then moves into an office as rapid gunfire breaks out.

“A few moments ago a shooting occurred inside a Culiacán Hospital. The violence does not stop in all of Mexico,” reads a translation of the Spanish-language post.
Four heavily armed people attempted to enter the hospital in March 2020 allegedly looking to execute an unknown patient, according to Guatemala-based news outlet Prensa Libre. The group was confronted by security outside of the hospital and a firefight ensued, the outlet reported.
Mexican media outlets including El Sol de Mexico and Grupo REFORMA also reported on the incident. Both Prensa Libre and Grupo REFORMA included the video featured in the Facebook post in their coverage of the attack.
