Fact Check:

Truss is the front-runner in the ongoing race to replace outgoing British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, according to The Associated Press. An image shared on Facebook claims she was recently the target of a scathing letter published by the Papua New Guinea Post-Courier.

“As Liz Truss prepares to take charge, and distances herself from the administration she administrated by remaining relentlessly focused on turbocharging us with meaningless banalities, it seems quaint that Brexit was once thought the island’s nadir,” reads the letter in part. It goes on to criticize her for not being persuaded by data related to climate change and at one point refers to her as “dense.”

There is no evidence the Papua New Guinea Post-Courier published such a letter. Check Your Fact searched the newspaper’s website and its social media accounts but found no record of it. There are also no credible news reports about such a letter being published by the Papua New Guinea Post-Courier or any other news outlet.

A keyword search reveals the post originates from the Twitter account @secrettory12. A subsequent keyword search generates a Patreon profile with the same name, noting it creates “satire for the (w)ages.” (RELATED: Did The Irish Independent Publish This Article About A Dying Man’s Last Words?)
