U.S. Federal Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart said on Thursday that parts of the affidavit authorizing the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago could be released after the Department of Justice makes the necessary redactions, according to The Washington Post. The judge told department officials to have the redactions done by the end of this week, the outlet reported.
A Facebook video claims Cruz has additional information about the raid. “‘I’ve The Evidence Here’ Ted Cruz 𝐄𝐑𝐔𝐏𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐒 FBI Director Tries to 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧 over Mar-a-Lago Raid,” reads the video’s caption and title. The video shows one clip of Cruz asking questions during a Senate hearing and another clip of him speaking on the Senate floor.
There is no evidence to suggest that Cruz said he had evidence about the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago. There are no credible news reports suggesting Cruz made such a comment. In reality, the 13-minute video includes a clip of Cruz questioning former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe about the department’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation into General Michael Flynn during a 2020 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. The second clip shows Cruz’s September 2021 remarks on the Senate floor about the Biden administration’s border policies in Del Rio, Texas, and a border tour he and 18 other senators embarked on as a result of surges in migrant crossings.
