Meghan Markle Claims British Press Called Her Child ‘The N-Word’

Meghan Markle recently explained why she didn’t want the British press to see photos of her son, Archie Harrison, when he was born, claiming it’s because they had called her child “the n-word.”

Markle and Prince Harry made headlines after the baby was born in 2019, and the couple chose to release photos captured by their own photographer and on their own time, which did not follow royal protocol. Now the Duchess of Sussex explained her motive during an interview with The Cut.

“There’s literally a structure,” Markle said. “Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my children before I can share with the people that love my children? You tell me how that makes sense and then I’ll play that game.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched their own Instagram handle, @sussexroyal as a way to control the photos being posted of them. Previously, they had shared the account @kensingtonroyal with Prince William and Kate Middleton. Markle noted in the interview that she refused to play the “exchange game.”

She also mentioned how “toxic” tabloid culture had affected her and her royal husband.

“Harry said to me, ‘I lost my dad in this process,’” Meghan said. “It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision.”

This wasn’t the first time the duchess claimed that the royal family treated her and her children differently because she is biracial. As The Daily Wire reported last year, Markle told Oprah during a bombshell interview that a member of the Royal Family expressed “concerns” over their son Archie’s skin tone and “how dark the baby’s going to be potentially and what that would mean or look like.”

Prince Harry backed up Markle’s claims but would not identify which person made the statements. “That conversation I’m never going to share,” the former senior royal said.

In November 2021, a source told author Christopher Andersen for his book “Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan” that it was Prince Charles speaking to his wife Camilla Parker Bowles, about “what the children will look like,” per Page Six

Harry and Meghan both told Oprah that the royal family refused to protect Meghan from racist attacks from the British press. Meghan told the talk show host that enduring the bullying was “almost unsurvivable”and led to her having  suicidal thoughts.

“I was really ashamed to have to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, but I knew that if I didn’t say that I would do it,” Markle said in March 2021. “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”
