Han Solo’s Gun From Original ‘Star Wars’ Movie Sells For Ridiculous Amount At Auction

Harrison Ford’s Han Solo prop gun from the original 1977 “Star Wars” film recently sold at auction for more than $1 million.

The original DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol used by Ford in the George Lucas film sold over the weekend for a whopping $1,057,500 after it was originally valued between $300,000 and $500,000, TMZ reported.

The blaster was one of the last three models that were made for the “Star Wars” franchise movie, the outlet noted. It was actually the same pistol seen strapped to Ford’s leg near the end of “Star Wars: A New Hope.”

The blaster was originally a Mauser C96 broom handle pistol that Lucas crew converted to a non-firing weapon for the film, PRNewswire reported.

Han’s gun reportedly went missing after the film wrapped and a new gun had to be created for the following films, “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” and “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,” the New York Post noted.

The auction was held by the Rock Island Auction Company for collector firearms. The company previously held auctions for such legendary weapons as John Wayne’s pistol from “True Grit” and Alexander Hamilton’s pistols, TMZ noted.

To put the sale of the blaster into perspective, another weapon that was used in “Return of the Jedi” sold for $550,000 just a few years earlier in 2018, PRNewswire noted.

To date, the highest priced “Star Wars” merchandise ever sold was an R2-D2 droid that went for $2.76 million in 2017 to one lucky fan of the galaxy far, far away, the post noted.

In 2021, more memorabilia from the legendary movie franchise went up for auction by the London- and Los Angeles-based company Prop Store. It included Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber from “Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith” and a Stormtrooper helmet from “Return of the Jedi,” just to name a few, the Post previously noted.
