Pop diva Madonna, who is worth a reported $850 million, is portraying herself as a victim who is being “crush[ed]” under the “heavy boots” of “the Patriarchy.” Her complaints on social media sparked strong blowback from critics.
The pop star tweeted, “The Patriarchy continues to try to crush my neck with their heavy boots, cut off my life force and take away my voice—Even those who call themselves artists…………..You know who you are!!! DEATH TO THE PATRIARCHY! Now and Forever. #riskwhatyouvalue #valuewhatyourisk.”

Madonna’s complaint elicited some hoots on social media:

I just got off the phone with my fellow members of the Patriarchy and we all agreed that no one wants to touch you out of fear of getting untold numbers of social diseases. You’re safe. https://t.co/UE75PM7RX8

Dear Yazidi women: Enough with your whining. If you wish to see what a truly heroic victim is, look no further than Noble Madonna. The suffering that she endured at the hand of the patriarchy is unconscionable. And yet she persevered in her Malibu mansion unlike you whiners. https://t.co/r4PYd63Uo5

It is truly unimaginable what you must have endured over the past 35+ years as a largely unknown woman, shackled by patriarchal forces that never permitted you to shine. I drove to Toronto with my cousin in 1985 to see you. I now regret it. https://t.co/r4PYd63Uo5

The changing methods she has used to desperately claw for attention over the years overlay neatly atop the graph of how our cultural obsessions shift.

The Daily Wire reported last March on Madonna’s viral COVID-19 post:
On Sunday, superstar Madonna, whose full name is Madonna Ciccone, posted a video of herself naked in a rose petal-infused bathtub talking about the China-originated novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. Pushing a message of “no discrimination,” Madonna, 61, waxed poetic about globalism, suggesting the “wonderful” side of COVID-19 is the same as what’s “terrible” about it: that the virus is the “great equalizer” for all mankind.
“That’s the thing about COVID-19, it doesn’t care about how rich you are, how famous you are, how funny you are, how smart you are, where you live, how old you are, what amazing stories you can tell,” the “Material Girl” singer said. “It’s the great equalizer.” “And what’s terrible about it is what’s great about it,” she continued. “What’s terrible about it is it’s made us all equal in many ways. And what’s wonderful about it is that it’s made us all equal in many ways.”
“Like I used to say, at the end of human nature every night, we’re all in the same boat,” she concluded. “And if the ship goes down, we’re all going down together.” “No-Discrimination- Covid-19!!”
In December 2016, at a Billboard Women in Music event, Madonna bashed outspoken feminist Camille Paglia for allegedly rejecting her in the 1990s and claiming the pop-star “set women back” by objectifying herself.
“It is truly tragic to see Madonna descend into embarrassing displays of maudlin self-pity and irrational accusations against others,” Paglia said in response. “She is turning into a horrifying combination of delusional, vampiric Norma Desmond and bitter Joan Crawford on the bottle.” Paglia then went on to utterly destroy Madonna’s behavior over the last 20 years, particularly her “embarrassing inability to deal with aging,” which Paglia labeled as the singer’s “number one issue” on her road to “self-destruction,” The Daily Wire noted.
“Camille noted that while Madonna’s role model, Marlene Dietrich, retained her class and style until her death, the singer is making a fool of herself ‘with vulgar displays while trying to remain youthful,’” noted The Daily Mail.
The same month, at a Miami fundraiser, Madonna chose to “twerk” her 58-year-old body alongside young pop-star Ariana Grande. In October 2016, Madge offered up oral sex to those who voted for former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, before she continued to brag about her oral sex-giving abilities while on stage at Madison Square Garden. In May 2016, at the Met Ball, the senior citizen sported a black lace dress which completely revealed her breasts and backside.
Paglia stated: “She has become a cringe-making pastiche of ratty blonde hair extensions and artificially swollen cheeks, obscuring the magnificent classic bone structure that made her one of the most photogenic celebrities of the 1990s. … In her struggles to stay relevant. Madonna has debased herself with adolescent, pitifully inept Instagrams that cannot compete with Rihanna’s brilliant work in that genre.”
