Team Trump Fires Back at NY AG Lawsuit

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that she is suing former President Trump and his children for allegedly engaging in “numerous acts of fraud” regarding past financial statements.

James and the Manhattan District Attorney’s office have been engaged in a 3-year investigation into whether Trump lowered property values on his tax forms but raised them in paperwork for lenders.

The Democrat AG claims Trump used “greatly inflated, grossly exaggerated, and objectively false” numbers in documents produced by his accountants and executives.

“Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization repeatedly and persistently manipulated the value of assets to induce banks to lend money to the Trump Organization on more favorable terms than would otherwise have been available to the company,” James said,

This allowed them “to pay lower taxes, to satisfy continuing loan agreements and to induce insurance companies to provide insurance coverage for higher limits and at lower premiums.”

Trump Lawyer Fires Back Over Letitia James’ ‘Meritless Claims’

The total amount of the ‘fraud’ alleged by Letitia James amounts to $250 million, as she accused Trump, his children, and his business associates of conducting the “art of the steal.”

Trump’s attorney Alina Habba fired back and called the claims “meritless” while suggesting James is more motivated by her “political agenda.”

There aren’t two sets of laws for people in this nation: former presidents must be held to the same standards as everyday Americans.

“Today’s filing is neither focused on the facts nor the law,” Habba said in a statement, “rather, it is solely focused on advancing the Attorney General’s political agenda.”

“We are confident that our judicial system will not stand for this unchecked abuse of authority, and we look forward to defending our client against each and every one of the Attorney General’s meritless claims,” she said.

James Vowed to Be a Real Pain in the Ass

One almost has to chuckle at the fact that Letitia James, with the resources of one of the most powerful Attorney General offices in the nation, conducted a three-year probe into the matter and could only come away with a civil lawsuit.

She spent three years chasing Trump and his kids and all James got was a lawsuit barely exceeding the parameters of a People’s Court case.

Indicating that the never-ending desire to get Trump will continue, James said she believes state and criminal laws may have been violated in the matter and referred her findings to the US attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York and the IRS.

Actions have consequences. We’re seeking to:

➡️Make Trump pay $250 million.

➡️Ban the Trumps from running NY businesses for good.

➡️Ban Trump and Trump Org from buying commercial real estate in NY for 5 yrs.

➡️We’re making a criminal referral to the U.S. Dept of Justice.

As for that ‘political agenda’ – James literally made it clear that she planned to eat, sleep, and dream about Trump once she was elected to the office of AG.

“Oh, we’re going to definitely sue him,” she said trying to motivate voters. “We’re going to be a real pain in the ass. He’s going to know my name personally.”

Former President Trump has blasted James in the past for engaging in what he calls a “witch hunt” and suggested she is a “racist.”

The Trump Organization back in December issued a statement regarding the investigation.

“The only focus of the New York AG is to investigate Trump, all for her own political ambitions. … This political prosecution is illegal, unethical and is a travesty to our great state and legal system,” they wrote.

In April, Trump mocked James’ failed campaign for Governor of New York in wishing her a ‘Happy’ Easter.

“Happy Easter to failed gubernatorial candidate and racist Attorney General Letitia James,” he wrote.

“May she remain healthy despite the fact that she will continue to drive business out of New York while at the same time keeping crime, death, and destruction in New York!”

In a statement released minutes ago on his Truth Social media platform, the former President suggested he couldn’t believe James moved forward with the case.

“I never thought this case would be brought – until I saw her really bad poll numbers,” Trump said.

“She is a fraud who campaigned on a ‘get Trump’ platform, despite the fact that the city is one of the crime and murder disasters of the world under her watch!”

The lawsuit comes just 49 days out from Election Day.
