‘America’s Got Talent’ Finalist Dead At 44
“America’s Got Talent” finalist Zuri Craig, who made it all the way to the final top 10 on the hit reality competition, has died at the age of 44, his family confirmed.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved son, brother and friend, Zuri Craig,” the Craig family shared in a statement posted on Instagram, People magazine reported on Sunday. The family shared that the singer died on Friday. No cause of death has yet been released.
“We thank you in advance for your prayers,” the statement added. Please honor our privacy during this unimaginable time of mourning.”
The caption next to the post read, “Please keep our family and friends in your prayers. More info forthcoming…[RIPZuriCraig].”
Craig shined on season 10 of America’s Got Talent in 2015 as part of the CraigLewis Band with his singing partner, Jeffrey Lewis, the New York Post noted.
The band and Craig ended up coming in fifth place in the competition, after doing their cover versions of hits by legends like James Brown and Mary J. Blige. The songs the duo sang were Brown’s “This is a Man’s World” and Blige’s “I’m Goin’ Down,” People magazine noted.
Craig also previously collaborated with actor Tyler Perry on several of his movies, such as “Madea’s Big Happy Family” and “A Madea Christmas,” the Post noted.
Fans of the singer shared tributes to him on social media.
One wrote, “My condolences to his family and friends and Tyler Perry.”
“Deepest condolences and Prayers To Family and Friends R.I.P. Zuri,” another fan shared.
“Words cannot say enough,” one person explained. “Our condolences to the family.”
Another shared, “Condolences to the family and loved ones of thee amazing talented musical brother Zuri.”
In February, another talent on the hit reality competition, contestant Jane Marczewski, known as “Nightbirde” on the hit show, passed away at the age of 31 — several years after being diagnosed with cancer, as The Daily Wire previously reported.
