White House: Investigating Hunter Biden Is “Spreading Conspiracy Theories”
The White House accused House Republicans of promoting “long-debunked conspiracy theories” on Thursday after they announced the details of their upcoming investigation into the possible corruption between President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
In a report titled “A President Compromised: The Biden Family Investigation,” congressional Republicans cited evidence from the First Son’s laptop and whistleblowers, arguing that there is “a decade-long pattern of influence peddling, national security risks, and political cover-ups” involving the president’s family.
“Committee Republicans’ investigation has uncovered evidence demonstrating deliberate, repeated deception of the American people, abuse of the Executive Branch for personal gain, use of government power to obstruct the investigation and prevent transparency, and potential violations of the United States Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause,” the report reads.
“The President’s personal participation in his family’s global business ventures — committed through and by a complex network of relatives and associates to enrich the Biden family — has exposed the United States to national security risks that could be leveraged by our enemies to undermine the Office of the President.”
Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, who is set to chair the House Oversight Committee, claimed that whistleblowers have detailed how Hunter and his family “flourished and became millionaires simply by offering access to the family,” reported Fox News.
Hunter’s former business partner-turned-whistleblower, Tony Bobulinksi, has shared multiple documents that implicate the president and his son in corruption connected with influence peddling and profiteering.
“Was Joe Biden directly involved with Hunter Biden’s business deals, and is he compromised?” Comer posed. “That’s our investigation.”
In a hasty response, the White House dismissed the report as a “political attack” and a “long-debunked conspiracy theory.”
“Instead of working with President Biden to address issues important to the American people, like lower costs, congressional Republicans’ top priority is to go after President Biden with politically motivated attacks chock full of long-debunked conspiracy theories,” said Ian Sams, a spokesman for the White House Counsel’s office.
“President Biden is not going to let these political attacks distract him from focusing on Americans’ priorities, and we hope congressional Republicans will join us in tackling them instead of wasting time and resources on political revenge,” Sams added.
However, the White House’s claims of conspiracy have been debunked themselves. According to a New York Post opinion editorial, “burying a story doesn’t mean it’s debunked.”
Despite Meta’s admitted suppression of the Post’s breaking news stories on Hunter’s shady dealings on Facebook, there is still proof.
“Consider these undisputed facts: Hunter Biden courted clients from China to Ukraine to Russia while his father was vice president. He was paid mind-boggling sums though, by his own admission, he was an irresponsible drug addict,” the editorial board stated.
They went on to list out the First Son’s business with a Chinese Communist Party-backed energy conglomerate despite having zero expertise in that field, his tax evasion, and his commingled finances with his father essentially on his payroll.
“Think this is all a debunked conspiracy theory? Prove it,” they challenged the White House.
