Courting Coach Prime: Both South Florida And Colorado Want Sanders, But Only One Is The Perfect Fit
247 Sports reported yesterday that Deion Sanders, ‘Coach Prime,’ has been in contact with both the University of Colorado and the University of South Florida about their head coaching vacancies.
While Colorado would be a nice landing spot for anyone, including Prime Time, the USF job would be the perfect fit.
Some people forget that USF was balling way before UCF started their climb to the top. I remember watching Matt Grothe and the Bulls come into Jordan-Hare Stadium and beat a very good Auburn team. USF climbed to number two in the country that season.
South Florida is the mecca for speed and athleticism. The recruiting would be lights out for Coach Prime and the staff he would put together.
His accolades on the trail at Jackson State would be nothing compared to the sleeping giant in Tampa Bay. The NIL money and donations the University would receive would be crazy along with the national PR campaign that would be launched. To put it plainly, USF would be plastered all over the headlines across the country — and they could win.
There would also be a more natural connection at South Florida, kids know who prime is all over the country, but especially down there.
And if you are USF with all of this conference realignment and seeing counterpart UCF going to greener pastures in the Big-12, the time is now to make a move.
Oh, and they’re also building a brand new stadium. And guess who’s coming to South Florida next year? Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide — it’s basically going to be an AFLAC commercial.
It only makes sense that Coach Prime would go to a place with prime real estate when it comes to football talent. It’s a match made in heaven.
