The belligerent protestor, Alexander Taylor, filed a police report against Wagner, who tackled him as he was being chased down by stadium security while running across the field with a smoke flare. Taylor, who was protesting on behalf of a fringe animal rights group called Right to Rescue, said that as a result of the tackle he suffered a concussion as well as burns on his arm.

“He looked like he wasn’t supposed to be on the field,” Wagner said in an interview following the incident. “I saw security was having a little problem, so I helped them out. It’s just keeping it safe. You don’t know what that fan got or what they’re doing. We don’t know what they’re carrying in their pocket.”

Rams head coach Sean McVay backed up Wagner’s actions, saying “We all know where Bobby’s intentions were, and I support Bobby Wagner.”
