‘It’s Ludicrous’: Hollywood Star Wants To Clarify The Rather Blunt Advice She Got From Tom Cruise
Hollywood star Emily Blunt has clarified the rather non-PC advice she got from Tom Cruise and accused some outlets of spinning it into “something that offended” her.
The 39-year-old actress said her story about Cruise telling her to “stop being such a p***y” on the set of their 2014 hit sci-fi thriller “Edge of Tomorrow” was “taken literally and absurdly out of context,” E! News reported.
“It’s ludicrous that it’s being spun as something that offended me,” Blunt shared. “It didn’t. I shared the story as lightheartedly as it was meant by Tom [Cruise].”
“I absolutely adore Tom, he’s a dear friend and he was a total gem to me,” she added. “It was said as a joke to make me laugh, which it did in a big way. And it’s still something we laugh about to this day.”
During the actress’ recent appearance on the “Smartless” podcast, Blunt talked about the challenges of the role, including acting while wearing a suit that weighed 85 pounds, as previously reported.
“We had to wear these really enormous robotic suits, which I think it would have been great if they could have CGI’ed them, but we wanted to do it practically and in a tactile way,” Blunt explained. “When you hear the word tactile, you’re like, that sounds nice and cozy. There was nothing cozy about wearing these suits.”
The “Jungle Cruise” star said the 85-pound suit, “was so heavy that the first time I put it on, I just started to cry in front of Tom.”
“He just stared at me and was like, ‘I know, I know,’ and I was like, ‘I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and I started to cry,” she added. “I was like, ‘I’m just feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot.’”
“He literally goes, he stared at me for a long time not knowing what to do, and he goes, ‘Come on, stop being such a p***y, OK?’” Blunt continued. “And I did laugh, and then we got through it. But the training was intense.”
