Dolly Parton Confirms Rumors About Item She’s Placed Under Dollywood That Won’t Be Unveiled Until She’s 99

Dolly Parton finally confirmed rumors about a time capsule that she’s placed under her Dollywood theme park that she said won’t be unveiled until she’s 99 years old, whether she’s still alive or not.

During the 76-year-old country music icon’s appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Parton said that inside the capsule buried beneath the Tennessee amusement park is an unreleased track.

“I have written a song that nobody’s gonna hear until I’m 99 years old — I might be there, I might not be,” the country star shared.

“It’s when we did Dollywood, when we reworked that, and we put it in a time capsule to be, you know, to be opened,” she added. “And I put all the things that had to do with the times. I put a cassette player … CD player.”

“And I tell you, you have no idea how that has bothered me,” Parton continued.  “I want to go dig that up so bad and think, ‘well, I need to use that song’ because it’s like you know, and it’s a really good song. But yes, I have a song that’s buried that nobody’s going to hear til, I don’t know whose damn idea that was.”

The country singer and actress said whether she’s there or not, she worries that no one will ever hear the unreleased song because it will probably disintegrate by then.

Clarkson said she thought the idea was beautiful. Parton replied, “It will be really special and hopefully you’ll still be there.”

The “Jolene” hitmaker was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an honor she initially tried to decline, suggesting she wasn’t qualified because she never wrote rock music.

In a recent interview with Billboard magazine, Parton joked that when her manager told her she would be inducted, she thought, “Well, I guess I’m a rock star now.” She went on to explain how she felt so “honored.”

“And I appreciate the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame people for staying there with me,” she said. “I never meant to cause trouble or stir up any controversy. It was just always my belief — and I think millions of other people out there too — always thought the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was just set up for the greatest people in the rock ‘n’ roll business, and I just didn’t feel like I really measured up to that and I don’t want to take anything away from the people that have worked so hard.”
