Producer for ABC News Passes Away Suddenly At 37 From A Heart Attack

The executive producer of ABC News’ “This Week,” Dax Tejera, passed away on Friday after suffering a heart attack, the network reported. He was 37.

His demise was announced in a memo that ABC News President Kim Godwin sent out to the workforce on Saturday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Godwin added, “It is with a heavy heart and tremendous regret that we share that our friend and colleague, Dax Tejera, passed tragically abruptly last night after a heart attack.” More information would be released in the following days, according to the document.

Tejera worked for NBC News, MSNBC, and Fusion before joining ABC News in 2017. Near the beginning of the COVID outbreak, he took over as host of George Stephanopoulos’ Sunday morning talk show “This Week,” according to Media Moves.

According to ABC News congressional reporter Rachel Scott, Tejera’s passing “has left us startled and hurt.”

Tejera’s wife, Veronica, and two young girls are left behind.

“Dax’s energy, passion, and love for that show, ABC News, and you, shone every Sunday morning as EP of ‘This Week with George Stephanopoulos,'” Godwin stated. The same affection was shown to his darling girls.

Our prayers are with his wife Veronica, their two small girls, and the entire Tejera family, Godwin continued.
