Dwayne Johnson Says Black Adam Being Discussed for “Future DC Multiverse Chapters” James Gunn Claims Elseworld Projects Are “Actively Happening”
Black Adam’s profits may be meager and disputed but we haven’t seen the last of Dwayne Johnson’s Man In Black, after all, according to the star. In a statement, he is saying the future is wide open for the character in the Multiverse, but that would be down the road after James Gunn and Peter Safran wrap up “their first chapter” or phase of DC.
“Black Adam has been buried, but he isn’t (quite) dead,” Variety reports about the antihero and Johnson’s ambitions. “Dwayne Johnson says that after talking with DC Studios co-chief James Gunn, Johnson’s DC anti-hero Black Adam ‘will not be in their first chapter of storytelling.’” This could come as good and surprising news for those who want a sequel or spinoff.
The Rock posted in a statement addressed to his “passionate friends” on his social media accounts that he and Gunn “connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.”
