Second Ringleader In The Plot To Kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer Sentenced to Nearly Twenty Years In Prison
A man was found guilty of conspiring against the kidnapping of Democratic leaders Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer On Wednesday, he was sentenced to almost 20 years imprisonment.
Prosecutors claimed that Barry Croft, Jr. and Adam Fox, both were leaders in the plot against Governor Scott. sentenced On Tuesday, Croft was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment. Croft was convicted along with Fox of conspiracy to inflict explosives damage.
Croft was sentenced for 19 years and seven month in prison. In connection with the plot to kill Whitmer, he is the seventh person to be sentenced. Fox was sentenced by a federal court on Tuesday. Croft’s attorney, Joshua Blanchard, tried to downplay his client’s role in the conspiracy and dismiss some of what Croft was recorded saying as crazy talk.
“Simply put, to the extent that the jury determined he was a participant, as they necessarily did, he was a participant to a lesser degree than others,” Blanchard claimed in a court filing that Blanchard was innocent according to CBS News.
The trial brought attention to the FBI and the militia members who were charged with conspiring against the governor’s kidnapping. The two men who were acquitted in the trial argued that federal agents had entrapped them to the extent that they could have been part the conspiracy.
