‘I Deserve Private Time’Eric Adams, NYC Mayor flees the City in advance of severe winter storm
New York City Mayor Eric Adams Wednesday’s defense came after he was criticised for leaving the city last week as the Big Apple prepared for severe winter storms during the Christmas holiday.

Adams, a retired police officer captain who assumed office on January 1, 2022 was reported to have taken a few days off to travel to the U.S Virgin Islands last week, as the city of around 8.8million prepared for the winter blast.

However, New York City’s mayor felt he needed to escape the major metropolitan area ahead of the natural disaster.
“I deserve to walk out of the building without a reporter hiding behind a flowerpot — without someone following me,” Adams said. “I deserve a moment to really de-escalate, and there will be many days that my body and my mind is going to tell me, ‘Eric, you need to get away.’”
The New York Post reported Adams was elected the first deputy mayor of the city, and he held a press conference. “giving a complete diagnosis of what’s happening.”
Lorraine Grillo, the First Deputy Mayor of Milan, offered a defense for her boss. saying, “Let me just say this to you — he might as well be here because we’ve been speaking constantly throughout the day,” According to The New York Daily News.
Adams also explained that the New York City Press doesn’t require a mayor report his whereabouts.
“I’m not going to do that,” Adams said. “And I’m not going to apologize for having the mental and physical capacity that’s needed to do the second most difficult job in politics in America.”
Adams returned to the city on Saturday night, where the Post spotted him attending Christmas Eve midnight mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in midtown Manhattan.
Adams answered a reporter’s question about where he was during the second week. “getting some rest and hiding from the Post.”
