Larry Elder: Stanford University’s Anti-”American” Wokeness
Stanford University has released a new list containing words that it considers important “harmful language.” The 13-page “Elimination of Harmful Language Initiative” It includes words like “immigrant,” Which should be replaced? “person who has immigrated.” It is best to avoid saying it “walk-in hours” In favor of “open hours” to not discriminate against or hurt the feelings of people with disabilities. Stanford suggests that we stop using the phrase “beating a dead horse” It normalizes violence against animals
Under a section called “Imprecise Language,” The guide suggests that the term be replaced “American” With “U.S. citizen.” It explains: “(‘American’) often refers to people from the United States only, thereby insinuating that the US is the most important country in the Americas.” North and South America both contain 42 countries. They also have feelings.
Goodness was one of my favourite groups growing up. “Jay and the Americans.” You can’t listen to anyone. “Cara Mia” It’s the same thing again. How about calling someone? “un-American”? Is this elitist too? Is it possible to refer to a style still as “Americana”?
Is it necessary to throw out the term? “the United States of America” In favor of “the United States of One of the 42 Countries in the Americas”? The National League and the American League are the two major leagues in baseball. There is some good news. We can get rid of that absurd, nonsensical, and bizarre term. “African American.” Africans don’t refer to a U.S. citizen who is black as he or she visits Africa. “African American.” I asked The Los Angeles Times reporter why the newspaper used the term in just one paragraph. “African-American” to describe
