SEE IT: Prisoner Flops Out Of Sheriff’s Cruiser Onto Highway In Botched Getaway
Video shows an inmate wriggling his way out of a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department cruiser on Saturday before being quickly detained again.
According to local media reports, the failed escape occurred just before 5 p.m. in Newhall, New York, on the 5 Freeway.
Authorities said the man kicked out the vehicle’s window. That’s when footage captured by a nearby driver showed the man was handcuffed when he plopped onto the highway.
As seen in the video, a deputy quickly got out of the car and secured the prisoner. aired by L.A.’s ABC News affiliate.

The prisoner was being transferred from North County Correctional Facility into a hospital to receive treatment for injuries when the attempted escape occurred. KTLA reported.
It wasn’t clear why the patient went to the hospital.
Per KTLA: After the prisoner had been placed back into the vehicle, he was taken to the hospital.
