Lebron James tweets support for Deshaun Watson after sexual assault allegations against Browns QB

LeBron James received backlash on Sunday for tweeting support for the quarterback Deshaun Watson during the Cleveland Browns’ game against the Washington Commanders.

Watson completed his nine-completion games with three touchdown passes. The 24-10 win was praised by the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

“Yessir D Watson!! Another one. That boy getting his rhythm back!” James wrote.

Watson appeared to be getting his “rhythm back” After being accused of sexual assault in more than 20 civil lawsuits, the Browns quarterback was suspended for more that half the season. The Browns quarterback settled a majority of them and didn’t receive any criminal prosecution from any of the cases.

James was subject to some scrutiny after the tweet.

James, a noted author Browns fanHe was once a Dallas Cowboys fan. He revealed that he is no longer a Cowboys supporter due to the way Jerry Jones and his organization dealt with the protests during the National Anthem several years ago.

“There was just a lot of things that was going on during when guys were kneeling, and guys were having freedom of speech,” James spoke in October. “They wanted to do it in a very peaceful manner. A lot of people in their front office and a lot of people that ran the organization was like, ‘If you do that around here, then you will never play for this franchise again.’ And I just didn’t think that was appropriate.”

In 2017, the Cowboys stood up before the national anthem to show solidarity. Jones however made it clear that he didn’t want any of his players to kneel during the anthem. Jones said that Jones would not be surprised if his team was “disrespecting the flag” then they won’t play in the game, “period.”
