Buffalo Bills: Safety Damar Hamlin is Improving ‘Neurologically Intact’
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who went into cardiac arrest in a frightening scene during Monday night’s contest against the Cincinnati Bengals, has shown dramatic improvement and appears to be “neurologically intact,” The team stated this in a Thursday statement.
Hamlin was a rookie defensive back from the University of Pittsburgh. He collapsed following what appeared to be a routine collision of Tee Higgins with Bengals receiver. The game was suspended after the play. Although doctors claim that he suffered cardiac arrest, there have been no updates from his condition. Fans and well-wishers continue to believe in his recovery.
“Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours,” In the statement, the team stated. “While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal, and he is making steady progress.”

Kaiier Elam, Bills rookie cornerback, tweeted that Hamlin had woken up.
“Our boy is doing better, awake and showing more signs of improvement,” Elam tweeted. “Thank you God. Keep the prayers coming please. All love 3!”
Hamlin was tackling Higgins and went down with just six minutes left in the first half of Monday Night Football’s Monday Night Football game. Hamlin then got up and took a step backwards before falling to the ground.
Dorrian Glenn, Hamlin’s uncle, told CNN Tuesday that doctors had his nephew “flipped over on his stomach” Because he sustained severe lung damage, he needed help to reduce the blood in his lungs. “some damage to his lungs,” The report stated.
“His heart had went out so they had to resuscitate him twice,” Glenn said. “They resuscitated him on the field before they brought him to the hospital and then they resuscitated him a second time when they got him to the hospital.”
It is unknown when or if the game can be resumed. Both playoff-bound teams will play in what would otherwise be their regular season finales on Sunday.
