Only 35% of Dems Hold Favorable View of Hakeem Jeffries

Only 35 percent of Democrats hold a favorable view of election denier Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), the House Democrats’ new minority leader, a Sunday CBS/YouGov poll found.

18% of respondents have a positive view of Jeffries overall, but 41% of those surveyed had never heard of him and his attacks on democracy.

Jeffries’ favorability among the Democrats’ intersection coalition was quite low. Jeffries was favorably favored by 16 percent of independents. This number was only 22 percent for black voters, and 20 percent for Hispanics. Only 19% of those surveyed younger than 30 thought Jeffries was a good choice. His rating fell to 14% among American women.

In contrast, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) favorably was marked at 61 percent among Democrats. She received a 44% approval rating from black respondents. 25 percent of Hispanics considered her favorable. Overall, Pelosi’s favorability was 27 percent, nine points higher than Jeffries’.

Jeffries assumed Pelosi’s speakership responsibilities last week amid 15 rounds of Republican speakership voting. During all 15 rounds, Pelosi’s speakership responsibilities were assumed by Jeffries. Voted Jeffries is an election denier and should be considered their minority leader. He was nominated by all Democrat.

The Democrats’ willingness to support an election denier contradicts many on the left who attacked Republicans for questioning the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election.

The poll Sample 2,144 Americans were surveyed between January 4th and January 6th with a margin error of 2.9 percent.
