Wynonna Judd Says She Knew ‘Something Wasn’t Right’ With Her Mom Naomi Before Suicide

Country star Wynonna Judd claimed she knew “something wasn’t right” Naomi Judd was her mother before Naomi Judd committed suicide in April.

During the 58-year-old singer’s appearance on the “Making Space” podcast Wynonna spoke with Hoda Kotb Monday about her last performance with her mother at Country Music Television Awards, less than a month prior to her death.

“She was very fragile,” Judd shared. “And I think it’s because she hadn’t sung in a long time.”

“And I think when our parents get older, their world gets smaller,” She added. “And she was late (that night), and she is never late. I think she was nervous.”

The dynamic between their relationship was openly acknowledged by the country singer “was tough and tender.”

“It was sometimes hard for me to be tender with mom, because I’m the lead singer, and I’m on my own version of life, on my own journey,” Judd shared. “And I think it occurred to me, though. All of a sudden, she looked at me and blinked, and I knew then that something wasn’t right in terms of her being off a little bit, like, nervous.”

“I softened, which I think is God’s grace,” She added. “And I just kind of reached out and touched her hand, like, ‘I’m here. I got you. It’s OK.’”

“And I’m glad I did that, because that was the last time we performed together,” Wynonna continued.  “I’m glad I didn’t stay stuck in my perfectionism is my point, I guess.”

The “No One Else On Earth” Hitmaker also recognized “struggling” Hence, her mother took her own life.

“I want to help other people not do what my mother [did],” Wynnona added. “Life is a mystery … I was mad for a long time, cause it was like the story can’t end like this. No. .. I just want to help one person.”

Naomi took her own life on April 30, after a struggle with mental health issues. The Daily Wire Previously reported. She was 76. Wynona and she had just announced The Judds’ final tour weeks before.
