Dr. Dre Threatens Marjorie Taylor Greene With Lawsuit; She Fires Back in Response

Dr. Dre demanded Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of the Republican Party of Georgia (R-GA), to remove a Twitter video that he claimed was a cover for one his songs.

“We write you on behalf of our client, Andre Young p/k/a Dr. Dre, composer and performer of the hit song ‘Still D.R.E.,’” an attorney for Dre said in a letter to Greene. “You are wrongfully exploiting this work through the various social media outlets to promote your divisive and hateful political agenda.”

Greene posted the instrumental version of the song, which means the lyrics were stripped out of the music.

Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, “has not, and will never, grant you permission to broadcast or disseminate any of his music,” the letter said. “The use of ‘Still D.R.E.’ Without permission, copyright infringement is a violation of 17 U.S.C. 501.”

“One might expect that, as a member of Congress, you would have a passing familiarity with the laws of our country,” The letter was continued. “It’s possible, though, that laws governing intellectual property are a little too arcane and insufficiently populist for you to really have spent much time on. We’re writing because we think an actual lawmaker should be making laws not breaking laws, especially those embodied in the constitution by the founding fathers.”

The letter requested that Greene reply by Wednesday night and confirm that she had accepted their request to take down the song.

Greene fired back at Dre in a statement to TMZ, blasting the subject matter of Dre’s music.

“While I appreciate the creative chord progression, I would never play your words of violence against women and police officers, and your glorification of the thug life and drugs,” Greene stated.

Greene shared a screenshot with the caption of her statement. “The next episode,” This is Dre’s troll song, and it is one of his most popular songs. “The Next Episode.”
